About Homegrown Heroes: Parade of Light

Saturday · December 13, 2025 · Hutchins, Texas

Time: 12:00 PM – 3:30 PM (Parade Preparation Setup: 11:15am)

Theme: “Carrying the Light of Hope — From Our Hands to the Next Generation”

Each year, the City of Hutchins comes together to honor the spirit of Christmas, community, and the people who make our city shine. The Annual Homegrown Heroes: Parade of Light is a cherished tradition designed to unite families, celebrate service, and pass forward a legacy of hope.

This year’s theme:  “Carrying the Light of Hope — From Our Hands to the Next Generation,” reflects our commitment to lifting up everyday heroes while inspiring our youth to become the light-bearers of tomorrow.

What This Event Is All About

Our mission is to honor the individuals who illuminate our city with acts of courage, compassion, and leadership — the first responders, teachers, veterans, faith leaders, youth mentors, and neighbors who bring unity and hope to Hutchins.

At the same time, we celebrate our children — the next generation — encouraging them to rise, shine, and continue carrying the light forward. Together, we create a moment where hope is visible, faith is refreshed, and hometown pride glows brighter than ever.

Event Highlights

  • Hope Village — food, local vendors, kids’ crafts, hero wall, and festive music

  • Parade of Light — illuminated floats and Kids of Light leading with lanterns to honor their heroes

  • Lift the Lights Ceremony — hero awards, memorial moment, carols, and a united light-raising tribute to loved ones

These moments reflect our city’s belief that light is meant to be shared, and when one family lifts hope — others follow.

A Parade For Everyone

The City of Hutchins invites:

  • Local schools & marching bands

  • Small businesses & civic groups

  • Churches & youth organizations

  • First responders & military families

  • Residents of all ages

  • Vendors and community partners

Floats, vehicles, costumes, and displays must incorporate light to symbolize hope carried into the future.

Honoring Our Homegrown Heroes

This year, residents are invited to nominate individuals who exemplify light in action — including:

  • Everyday leaders

  • Silent servants

  • Youth making a difference

  • Elders who paved the way

Selected heroes will receive public recognition and represent our city as Residents of Light — living proof that real heroes are right here among us.

Passing the Torch

From young hands holding lanterns —
to honored heroes lifting the flame —

This parade is a symbolic handoff of hope.

It declares: “We remember where the light came from —and we commit to carrying it forward.”

Parade Ends

The parade will end at Campbell Park, located at 200 S Denton Hutchins, Texas, where the Hutchins residents will enjoy the Village of Hope, Celebrate music, free food, honor and support, and pay tribute to all our homegrown hero nominees.
